Aswan is a city in Egypt located on the banks of the Nile River in the south of the country. It is known for its ancient Egyptian temples, the Aswan Dam, and its beautiful location on the Nile. A day trip from Marsa Alam to Aswan is a great way to experience the rich culture and history of Egypt.

Program

Start the day early by catching a flight or bus from Marsa Alam to Aswan. The journey should take around 3-4 hours.

Upon arrival in Aswan, head to the Aswan High Dam, a massive hydroelectric dam that was completed in 1970 and provides electricity to much of Egypt. Take a tour of the dam and learn about its history and importance to the region.

Next, visit the Temple of Isis at Philae Island. This beautiful temple was dedicated to the goddess Isis and is located on an island in the Nile. Take a boat ride to the island and explore the temple grounds.

After lunch, visit the Nubian Museum, which showcases the culture and history of the Nubian people who lived in the region for thousands of years.

End the day with a visit to the famous Temple of Karnak, one of the largest temple complexes in the world. This temple was dedicated to the god Amun and features several large structures, including the Great Hypostyle Hall with its massive columns.

Before returning to Marsa Alam, stop by the Aswan market to pick up some souvenirs and try some local cuisine.
